My thoughts:

So, this pairing is a thing. Drawing something for it ended up being a lot harder than I originally anticipated. Not sure why. I just…wasn’t very motivated to draw anything super pretty/realistic/hyper-detailed for this pairing. XD I have mixed feels about this ship, stemming from the fact that I'm not a very big fan of Violet (I like her more than Lily, but I kind of group them both in the “I only care if you’re convenient to care about” pile of stock characters). Violet is shallow. She shows hints that she’s savvy in screenwriting (at least, in the dub), and her athletic determination is at least admirable on some level, but there’s so little of her anywhere in the anime that she’s just…there. She’s just a thing that happens and occasionally bullies Misty around and whines about her looks, and that’s about it.

She did make a cute pirate in that one episode, though. :3 I will admit that. Ahaha.

So this piece is basically a series of moments taken from their date together: dinner, shopping, spontaneous art, and a goodnight kiss. I figured that if I couldn’t handle drawing anything all srs-bsns-like, I’d draw something goofy and cutesy. I wanted to try and keep parts of it in a “painterly” style, since Aquarelle is basically a fancy-pants way of saying you watercolored something. I think I succeeded, but at this point, I’m too tired and bored of thinking up reasons to make this pair work to care. I really can’t see these two working. At all. Ever. Well, maybe under surreal circumstances, but honestly...no. XD


Next ship: Artist. Expect it eventually.
